Plaza Summer Camp 2008

June 9th thru August 1st
9am
to 5 pm, Monday-Friday,
at the cost of 10.00/wk.
Will be ten weeks with different subjects every week.
Weekly Subject: Animal
Kingdom
Objective: To show children
the importance of all animals and the care that they
require from all of us.
Activity: Take the children
to the zoo.
(Prepare a life-like scenario of large animals for
the children.)
Weekly Subject: Firefighters
Objective: To show children
that firefighters are their friends, help the community
and that they are good.
Activity: Take the children
to the fire station and take pictures in the fire
truck.
Weekly Subject: Police
Objective: To show children
that the police are their friends and work to prevent
bad things from happening to children and their parents.
Activity: To take the children
to police headquarters to see the inside of a police
car, take pictures, and to listen to the sirens.
Weekly Subject: Plants
Objective: To speak about
and create a relationship with and understanding
of plants vegetables and fruits. This will
help them to understand that these things are nutritious
for them.
Activity: Take children to
sow and harvest fruits and vegetables.—Land
at La Academía—Take children to country
and farms. To sow kidney beans—process
of growth.
(Prepare large fruits and vegetables hollowed so that
the children put their faces in them and we may take
pictures)
Weekly Subject: Science
Objective: To talk about planets
and astronauts.
Activity: To make a recycling
day (to save our planet), to go clean a park, or
go to the border of the river.
Weekly Subject: Transportation
Objective: To teach children
the importance of transportation such as cars, boats,
etc.
Actvity: Car Wash (fundraiser
for La Plaza). Take them to a car museum.
Weekly Subject: Mexico
Objective: Transport children
to Mexico by means of activities and dynamics
that make the children think about Mexico.
Actvity: Make piñatas
and break them, full of candy and toys.
Weekly Subject: Books
Objective: To show children
the importance of lecture and different books.
Activity: Take them to the
library.
Weekly Subject: Recreation
Objective: To show children
the different ways to exercise and have fun in a
healthy way.
Activity: Take the children
to the swimming pool.
Weekly Subject: Movies
Objective: To make children understand that within
themselves they have the creativity to create a movie.
Activity: Take the children to the cinema—show
them the machinery—where they put the movies.
